Uk Matias Quiet Pro For Mac

admin

The Quiet Pro by Matias is marketed “the world’s quietest mechanical keyboard,” and that might be true, depending on your definition of what a “mechanical keyboard” is. Some would call Topre switches “mechanical,” and Topre makes some super quiet ones, like their silenced ones.

Finally there exists a more compact mechanical switch keyboard without the noise normally associated with mechanical keyboards. The Matias Mini Quiet Pro Keyboard for PC uses Matias' Quiet-Click mechanical switches, over 2 years in the making. They deliver a feel that is unmatched for comfort, and provides the tactile feedback you need to type really fast. Also includes: sculpted keycaps, 3 port USB 2.0 hub, detachable USB cable, and special anti-ghosting circuitry to keep up with the fastest typists.Note: UK, German, and Nordic versions of this model are available from our UK/Europe distributor. If you're ordering from Europe or Asia, to avoid import duty, please consider buying from.Share this Product.

I've had these keyboards for around a week now, so if people are looking into getting into the few mac-specific mechanical keyboards, I can provide my opinion. In short, I feel like this was a good purchase, and I enjoy using them.Quick background: I've owned a couple a Windows mechanical keyboards. The Rosewill 9000s for Cherry MX Blues. The Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry MX Black. And the Filco Ninja Cherry MX Browns. Out of them, I think the Browns are the way to go.

I've sampled most of the other Cherry MX variants and got to play around with a Topre switch at an electronics store in Japan. I've never gotten to play with Model Ms.The Matias Quite Pro uses some variation of ALPS White caps, and I was initially really hesitant. I had a bad experience with ALPS caps from some unknown brand keyboard I picked up at Fry's a number of years ago.The tactile feedback for the Matias Quiet Pro is closer to the Browns (and I suspect the Cherry MX Reds). You get some stiffness, so I don't think this is the best keyboard if you're going for pure typing. For that, I suspect the Das Mac Keyboard would be best. Those come only in Cherry MX Blues, which is REALLY loud, but really fun to type on.But it's great for what it's worth. Being able to see what the option-key hotkeys are on the keyboard itself is a huge plus for me.

A major downside for me is that the function keys are mapped to pre-Lion OS Xs, so you don't have default access to the Launchpad.Oh another major downside? Also, the travel distance between keys is much larger than most Windows keyboards. As a side note, any Windows mechanical keyboard works great for the Mac.

You can even remap the keys to suit you - but I'm not much of the tinkering type so I appreciate default Mac layouts. This keyboard is not for everyone, so I wouldn't say go out and get it. But, I like using it.

Uk Matias Quiet Pro For Mac

So I would recommend any past or future versions of me to look kindly upon the Matias Quiet Pros.Website:. I liked the Quiet Pro so much I bought a Laptop Pro to use at work. I prefer blues but both my Wife and Co-Workers would murder me if I used them on a consistent basis. I use the special characters a lot at work so that is a huge benefit being right on the board. Some people say the Matias Quiet switches are not tactile enough but I find them to have a hearty tactility to them without the gattling gun of the blues. I'm somewhat easy to please however.I'm not sure I think the board is all that ugly but I wish I could get the Mac Layout in the sleek black color instead of this 2001 era silver.

It feels nice under my fingers and that's what counts. The Quiet Click switches are available so I have hopes that some other keyboard producers will start using them, maybe as an alternative to Cherry MX Browns. I've only used Browns once but, at least from what I remember, the Matias Quiet Switches seem to be a little more tactile.I have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Mac Layout which has blues that I really like, LED lighting that I really like, and a really really dumb audio/usb harness thing that I never used. Unfortunately as I said the blues were bordering on murder territory so I relegated that keyboard to the basement.Laptop ProQuiet Pro.

I have the Laptop Pro version (same keys), while also using a Ducky (MX Red) and a Poker II (Browns). I find Matias' quiet switch to be somewhere between the two (bearing in mind that I'm not a huge fan of Browns). It's nowhere near as tactile (and loud) as their Tactile Pro keyboard (which I also have, and it beats even the MX Blues in the amount of racket it creates).Although I'm a die hard user of mechanical keyboards I still find the good ol' Apple Wireless keyboard to be the fastest and causing the least fatigue of all of the above.
